About Quanqi

I am a Ph.D. researcher at Ghent University, Belgium, where I work on the project “Modelling Multimodal Emotions in Conversation.” My research explores how language, audio, and visual signals interact to convey emotions in human communication, with a focus on building computational models that can better understand and interpret these complex emotional cues.

Prior to this, I obtained an M.A. in Speech and Language Processing from the University of Konstanz, Germany, one of the institutions selected under Germany’s Excellence Initiative (2006, 2012, 2019). During my time there, I developed a strong foundation in computational linguistics and multimodal analysis, and completed the program six months ahead of schedule.

I received my B.A. in English with a concentration in Scientific English from Zhengzhou University, China, a member of both the national Project 211 and the Double First-Class Initiative (2017, 2022). My undergraduate training combined linguistics, translation, and scientific communication, laying the groundwork for my interdisciplinary approach to language and emotion.

My research interests include multimodal sentiment analysis, affective computing, conversational AI, and the intersection of language and emotion in both human and machine communication. I am particularly interested in how large language models can be used to interpret emotional nuance across modalities and cultures.
