EMOSEDE in Rome!

Posted on July 1, 2019

Today, the Special Track on EMOtion and SEntiment DEtection took place at the HUSO conference in Rome.

We were very lucky that Dr. Alexandra Balahur from the European Commission's Joint Research Center was willing to give an interesting keynote presentation on "Detecting and Classifying Implicit Expressions of Emotion from Text using Common-sense Knowledge and Crowdsourced Data".

During the Special Track four other presentations, among which three by LT3 members, ensured it was a very inspiring morning session:

  • Polina Panicheva and Olga Bogolyubova presented "Towards a Psychologically Grounded Emotion Dictionary for Russian"
  • Els presented the work of a Master student she supervised last year: "Sentiment Analysis of French Political Tweets: #MacronPrésident"
  • Both Nina and Luna both presented one of the first outcomes of their PhD research: "Measuring the Impact of Sentiment for Hate Speech Detection on Twitter" and "Towards an Empirically-Grounded Framework for Emotion Analysis".
